WHAT: Vets 1st 20K
WHEN: Friday, May 15th
WHERE: Participants will meet at the Tattler American Legion Post (4355 N Western, Chicago) at 0600 hours (yes, that’s AM) to board buses and be brought to the starting point OR they will take their own transportation and meet by 0745 at the 31st St Beach parking lot.
Walk begins at 31st and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago (most of walk is along the lakefront) and ends back at the Tattler American Legion Post, 4355 N Western, Chicago. Immediately following walk, stay for comaraderie, food and beverages.
WHY: To bring awareness to the devastating reality that approximately 20 veterans, on average, are committing suicide on a daily basis. In addition, this is a large fundraising effort to help support the services in our community that support our veterans and first responders with PTSD and other mental health and physical challenges. This year, money is being raised for the following organizations: Road Home, Rags of Honor, Vet Service Dogs, SGB injections and scholarship money.
